Sages at the 3rd Higher Education Libraries Congress in Kraków
On 17–19 June 2026, we took part in the 3rd Higher Education Libraries Congress in Kraków. As an event sponsor, we had the opportunity to meet representatives of academic libraries from across Poland, exchange experiences, and discuss how new technologies are changing access to knowledge and the operation of modern libraries.
This year’s Congress focused on three main areas: resources, people, and organisation and space. The programme included discussions on artificial intelligence, open science, library systems, research data, new competencies for library staff, promotion, and accessibility.
This combination of a technological perspective with the everyday challenges of research institutions was particularly interesting to us. For years, Sages has been developing solutions that support digital access to knowledge, so the opportunity to speak directly with people who develop academic library services every day was extremely valuable.
In addition to attending the entire event, we also had a place in the official programme. On the final day of the Congress, 19 June, a Sages sponsored presentation took place.
It was another opportunity for us to show how technology can support research institutions and libraries and respond to the changing needs of their users. The subsequent conversations, concerning both specific solutions and the broader directions of the sector’s digital transformation, were especially valuable to us.
The 3rd Higher Education Libraries Congress demonstrated the scale of change taking place in academic libraries today. Artificial intelligence, open science, digital accessibility, new approaches to working with data, and designing services for different groups of users are no longer topics for the future — they are already shaping the day-to-day work of institutions.
We are pleased to have been part of this event, met members of the academic community, and taken part in conversations about the future of access to knowledge.
